Below are answers to some of the more frequently asked questions. Please contact us if you have any other questions.
Q. How do I order a
cake?
For celebration cakes please send us an
email.
For wedding cakes we recommend a full
consultation to ensure we capture all your ideas and
requirements.
Q.
How far in advance do I need to order?
The further ahead you order the better. For
celebration cakes and large cupcake orders please allow 4 weeks and
for wedding cakes, around 12 weeks. If you are unable to order this
far in advance though we will do our best to fit in your
order.
Q. What flavour cakes do you make?
We specialise in light and fluffy Victoria
sponge cakes. Our standard flavours are vanilla and chocolate but
we are always happy to discuss other flavours if you have a
personal preference. Vanilla buttercream is used as standard
on all our large cakes, but we are also happy to create buttercream
toppings in other flavours.
Q. I have a food allergy - can I still have cake?
At Little Love Cakes, we also know that not
everyone can eat a sponge baked using traditional ingredients. We
can substitute alternative ingredients to avoid some common
allergens* including:
• gluten free
• dairy free
• sugar free (using sugar alternatives)
* There are traditional ingredients in the Little Love Cakes
kitchen so although we are as careful as possible, we cannot
guarantee that the cakes are 100% allergen
free.
Q:
What are your standard cake sizes?
At
Little Love Cakes we bake 7” and 9” cakes as standard. Each regular
cake consists of three sponges in a single layer.
- 7" feeds approximately 16-20
- 9" feeds approximately 26-30
Portion size for sculptured cakes will differ
slightly depending on the style of cake you require but we are
happy to guide you in this. We are also very happy to discuss
wedding cake sizes, such as number of layers and portions you
require.
Q.
How do I pay for my order?
A
£30 or 25% deposit is required (depending
which is the higher) to secure your order. Payment can be made
online via bank transfer or in cash, prior to or upon collection.
Please note that deposits are non-refundable.
Q.
How do I get my cake?
We
will contact you when your cake is ready for collection on or just
before your required date.
Q.
How much will I expect to pay for a cake?
As
each of our cakes is made to order and to meet individual
requirements we cannot give set prices. To receive a quote, please
send us an email with your enquiry. However, as a general guide,
simple cakes start from £50 and more detailed cakes start from
about £80.
Q.
How do I care for my cake?
Your cake will be handed to you in a lidded cake
box. You should store it in a cool, dry place and out of direct
sunlight. Once cut, we recommend you wrap the remaining cake in
greaseproof paper and silver foil to preserve the moistness of your
cake. If you would like to keep any decorations such as sugar
flowers or figurines, remove them from the cake and store in a
cardboard container preferably with some anti-moisture
crystals.
